Objectives
The principal objectives of British Smaller Companies VCT are:
- To achieve a total return greater than that available from direct investment in quoted businesses by investing in a portfolio of carefully selected smaller companies with excellent growth prospects;
- To minimise the risk of each investment and the portfolio as a whole;
- To maintain VCT status in order to secure the substantial tax benefits available for investment in a venture capital trust;
- To achieve a consistent level of dividend. In the last five financial years ended 30 September 2007 the average tax-free dividend has been 3.9 pence per share.
